CEBU, Philippines - From bowling to amateur boxing, Gaisano Coutrymall is now organizing a running event dubbed as 'Fit and Fab Run' on July 17.
Runners have the option to race in either the 3K, 7K or 15K categories.
“Aside from me being into running, it’s a fad right now and Gaisano Country-mall has the support of the suppliers, everything we need. We have the resources so why not organize a fun run ourselves,” said Gaisano Countrymall operations manager Chairmaine Suson in yesterday’s press conference at Lighthouse Restaurant.
The event organizers are scheduling it in July in line with the celebration of Nutrition month.
If the turnout will be good enough, feeding program for streetchildren and at a still unidentified orphanage will be done after the race.
“It’s a way of giving back to the people. Not just a fun run, but something for the less fortunate ones,” Suson added.
A total of P20,000 in cash prizes and P17,500 worth of gift certificates will be given away to the top three performers of each class.
Registration fee is pegged at P350, which includes a P200-worth of groceries from Gaisano Countrymall, snacks and a singlet for the first 1,200 finishers.
Each runner is also entitled to a raffle ticket wherein exci-ting prizes are at stake.
The deadline for registration is one July 11, while singlets will be distributed from July 12 to 16.
Entry forms are available at Runnr, Casa Ilongga, Cebu City Sports Center and at Gaisano Countrymall.
The event is also supported by 100 Plus, Summit Natural Drinking Water, Casa Ilongga, Runnr, San Marino, Sky Flakes, Head&Shoulder along with The Freeman Newspaper, Front Runner, Sunstar, Cebu Daily News and Y101 FM. (FREEMAN)
