CEBU, Philippines - Former varsity players made use of their veteran moves as X-Men and Dindo Salon Xclusivz stayed unbeaten in the 1st Niño Rabaya Cup Men’s Open volleyball tournament at the Talisay City gym.
Norvie Labuga-led X-Men thrashed Bulacao, 25-15, 25-12 and Ador, 25-21, 25-16 to stay unbeaten after three games.
Aside from Labuga, the likes of Jonrey Sasing, Roderick Arenasa, Norvie “Making” Labuga and Joselito “Tolits” Moncada also powered X-Men to victory.
Dindo Salon Xclusivz, on the other hand, coasted to its second straight win after fending off Ador, 25-14, 25-13, behind the powerful attacks of former University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) stalwarts in Angellan Visoc, James Ryan Rivera, Clifford Cafe, Ronald Melencion and current members Edward Ybañez, Alan Caspillo, Emmanuel Marlon Luces along with Roy Ulan.
Aside from trophies and medals, the champion will pocket P8,000, while the second and third placers will get P6,000 and P4,000, respectively. — (FREEMAN)
