CEBU, Philippines - A total of 1,600 runners will see action in the first-ever "Backpack Family Fun Run" at the Terraces of the Ayala Center Cebu today.
Organizers said that coming up with such number of participants is considered a blessing considering that the registration fee is a bit high since it’s a fund-raiser.
World Vision ambassadors Miriam Quiambao and Derek Ramsey will add glitz to the affair.
It was learned that both Quiambao and Ramsey’s talent fees will be given to World Vision Foundation where they are both sponsors.
Quiambao in a press briefing yesterday at Ayala Active Zone appealed that people would also sponsor a kid under World Vision and not only support the run itself.
The event features a 3K, 5K and 15K run spiced up with a 300-meter dash.
Proceeds of the race will go to the educational fund of 15 children from the World Vision Foundation.
More than the scholarship, World Vision is also helping out the chosen less fortunate kids in their medical assistance as well as help their family have a better living condition.
Limited edition backpacks with school supplies for students of the Guba and Subangdaku Elementary Schools will also be given away. (FREEMAN)
