CEBU, Philippines - Johnny Carzano smoothly ran over his rivals to emerge as champion in the seniors division of the Barangay Bulacao Fiesta Chess Tournament at the Bulacao Sports Complex in Talisay City .
Carzano outshone Rolando Arcipe for the top spot, while Ernesto Marquez wound up third.
Rounding up the top nine finishers were Dennis Gonzalos, Vicmel Pepito, Edwin Abolencia, Junry Siloy, Cris Aliganga and Alberto Acabao.
In the juniors division, Reyd Jayson Ortuoste bagged the crown, while Daniel Lorenzo Minoza and Sherwin Amad took the next two seats.
John Rynyl Panal placed fourth followed by James Rizo.
In the kiddied class, Adonis Manlise reigned supreme as Ivan John Campaner and Mardion Parolim finished second and third. Andry John Parialde was fourth and Kieth Tristan Nacario fifth.
The two-day tournament was bankrolled by PMS Chess Club, Inc. headed by its president Loreto Powao and supported by the barangay council of Bulacao. (FREEMAN NEWS)
