New Year Wishes

CEBU, Philippines - For most of us, who are trying to lead a healthy lifestyle, the Holidays are both a blessing and a curse. Blessings is when you get to see your loved ones again, share a laughter, catch up with each other’s activities for the past 12 months or so. You might argue that Facebook is a nice way to get in touch but it’ll never replace actual reunions and get-together, so there really is no comparison here.

The curse, on the other hand, is actually “self-inflicted”. Food is aplenty and the tendency to overindulge is always there. Most tend to justify their cravings with New Year Resolutions, which usually is great in the first few days of January before we backslide to our old, self-inflicted habits. And the funny thing is that we question ourselves why we can’t beat our personal best this time when we were so damn, good two months ago!

I know you’ve heard this before but the secret, which I bet you already knew, is to take everything in moderation. Tell that to the Spartans, though!!!

2011 WISHES

1. I wish is for a new Tour de France champion. Three-time Tour de France Champion Alberto Contador is OK but want my champion in the mold of Lance Armstrong, Bernard Hinault, Laurent Fignon or Greg Lemond. The Schlecks just won’t cut it.

2. I wish that the local cable monopoly will bring back the National Football League games. Maybe the local flag football groups can help by making a petition to this monopoly.

3. Battle of the Bulge: I wish that I can bring my weight down by 15lbs!

4. I wish that a rider from team Cebu Cycling will finally win a big executive race next year.

5. I wish that Cebu will be hosting more cycling events on top of the Tour ni Frank, the CC road events and the regular MTB races.

Speaking of the Tour ni Frank, the 2011 edition will be held this January 8th and 9th. There will be two races, a crit at the Mandaue Reclamation on the Saturday and a road race, Talamban to Cebu City via the Trans-Central Highway. Architect Miguel Flores is the race director for this year and if you want to join, please go to www.cebucycling.com for more information.

Go figure – haven’t you noticed that if some groups or the MTCRB bans, or delete portions of movie, it becomes a big hit even if it’s a lousy film? So why do they keep doing it? A lot of porn videos are being sold in the sidewalks yet no one makes a noise about it except maybe from the vendors……Average ticket price Miami heat- LA Lakers Christmas showdown: $556! That’s a whopping Php24,548.55! (FREEMAN)
