CEBU, Philippines - Nelson Yuvallos carded nines of 35 and 38 for a gross score of 73 strokes to win the top honors in the December Monthly Medal of Cebu Country Club.
Yuvallos, who plays with a handicap of 11, played near flawless golf and then pulled past Jovi Neri in countback to win the crown.
Neri settled for the class A title with his net score of 67 with Evans Tumaliwan taking the runner-up honors with his net score of 69.
The class B title went to Ernesto ‘Dodong’ Siguan shooting a net score of 69 off a gross 85. Runner-up honors went to Susumu Hangai with a net 70.
Junichi Kanda ruled class C with a net score of 63 off a gross 87. The Freeman columnist Valeriano ‘Bobit’ Avila bagged the runner-up honors with a net score of 66.
Katashi Nagata won class D with a net score of 68 beating Dr. Mike Mancao for the plum. Mancao settled for the runner-up honors.
The seniors’ division title went to Cesar Libi with a net score of 69 while Pete Polo was the runner-up with a net score of 72 strokes.
Gassy Lizares topped the guest division with a net score of 77 in the Callaway format. Runner-up honors went to Geoff Thomas. (THE FREEMAN)
