Marie Ernestine Emerald Run set

CEBU, Philippines – The first ever running race that will be just within the mall premises happens via the Marie Ernestine Emerald Jubilee Run on November 6 at The Terraces grounds of Ayala Center Cebu with thousands of fitness buffs expected to participate.

Race director Kenneth Casquejo of RunCheck said this would be the first time that a race is held within the Business Park area featuring the 200m dash, 1.6K, 3K, 5K and 10K divisions.

"Unlike the other races, this is the first time that a run is just within the vicinity of Ayala Center and we were very much sure that the distance is accurate because we've used the GPS device," said Casquejo in a news conference yesterday at Bo's Coffee.

The event, which is among the highlights of Marie Ernestine's 35th year anniversary, aims to promote wellness and environmental awareness as the first 350 runners to reach the finish line will be given tree seedlings for them to plant.

Marie Ernestine School has consistently worked to mold cooperative, collaborative and contributing students of God and country.

The run is open to all students and friends of Marie Ernestine School as well as to all running clubs in Cebu. Registration fee is pegged at P250 inclusive of a singlet, race number, map and refreshments.

"We are encouraging all the runners in Cebu to participate in this beneficial fun run and to celebrate the opening salvo of our emerald jubilee celebration," said Dr. Marie Ernestine Fajatin, the owner and founder of the school.

Casquejo said the race is purely fun run, with no cash incentives for the top three winners in each category. Instead, the top performers will be given medals and full recognition.
