CEBU, Philippines – The Litigators upended Pecandela Law Firm, 58-55, in a showdown of undefeated teams to complete a seven-game elimination round sweep in the 5th Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) 2010 Mayor's Cup basketball tournament at the Capitol Parish gym along Escario Street, this city.
In the other match, this time between the two winless squads, the Bros 'N Law led by Enric Rama nipped the Iron Eagles, 71-69.
The Pecandela led at halftime, 29-24, but Jun Felicitas instigated a blistering 24-6 run to suddenly put the Litigators on top by 13 points, 48-35. Felicitas scored 10 of his 16 points in that tide-turning rally in the third period.
The trio of Francis Pepito, Tommy Yu and Mark Russ Gamallo sparked a late fourth-quarter assault for Pecandela but to no avail as the Litigators proved to be a tough nut to crack at crunchtime.
In the other games, defending champion Super Idols ran over Mt. Zion, 68-63, while the Pañeros tamed YLAC, 55-52. (FREEMAN)
