CEBU, Philippines - For those who missed the kick off of Cebu City Sports Commission’s amateur boxing program, the training continues tomorrow in barangay Pahina San Nicolas.
The training is open to everyone every Saturday from 2 to 5 pm initially at Pahina San Nicolas.
Even the oldies and women are welcome to join the activity to help keep them healthy and fit.
CCSC commissioner Lorenzo Sy and barangay captain Antonio Caruzca are overseeing the program while training is done by the Team Cebu City trainers and boxers.
“It was a very touching experience to see many kids as young as 9 very eager to learn the boxing routine and techniques coached by our volunteer trainers from Team Cebu City Boxing. Many of the adults, teens and kids were barefoot,” said CCSC chairman Edward Hayco.
Aside from that, those who want to build a career in boxing will also be given an exposure to showcase their wares through inter-barangay boxing competitions.
CCSC also plans to keep a training pool of amateur boxers than will be representing the city in various events in different parts of the country and even abroad. – THE FREEMAN
