Wipro scores in BPO hoopla

CEBU, Philippines – The Wipro dribblers banked on Reinario Salibay and Raymond San Juan to escape Cebu Global, 71-67, last Sunday in the 6th Inter-BPO Basketball Tournament played at the City Sports Club-Cebu Gym.

Salibay scored 29 points, while San Juan added 22 as they helped Wipro survive the scoring rampage of Global's Ken Lord Go Long and Jan Paul Linke.

Go Long and Linke carried the fight for Global by finishing with 24 and 22 points, respectively.

It was Wipro's third win in seven starts.

Backing Go Long and Linke was Luciano Castro, who scored 10 points.

The three, however, failed to save Global from tasting its fifth loss in nine games.

In the other game, the Teletech Titans trounced Stream Global Services, 74-56, to keep their hold of second place.

Sherwin Anghay tallied 16 points, Erwin Abellanosa finished with 15, for the Titans, who nailed their eighth victory against a single defeat.

Teletech is slightly behind defending champion Convergys, which has a clean 8-0 win-loss card.

Stream, which dropped to 4-4, was led by Neil Velasquez and Roderick Mangubat, who scored 15 and 14 points, respectively. (THE FREEMAN)
