CEBU, Philippines - The country’s top scrabble player Teodoro Martus, Jr. along with a slew of Cebuano word wizards will strut their wares in the National Association for Scrabble Association in the Philippines (NASCAP) tournament from July 31 to August 1 at SM City-Makati Activity Center.
“I’m not so confident on my chances because there are of good players who will be joining. What I can assure to the Cebuanos and to myself is that I will do my best for this competition,” said Martus.
Aside from Martus, his fellow University of the Visayas alumni Michael Laput and Orville James Alagaban and a senior UV student Jowar Ayuno have also confirmed their participation in the two-day tilt, which also serves as the Luzon qualifying for the World Youth Scrabble Championship (WYSC).
The rest of the Cebuano players who will take part in the international contest are Joy Policher, Mae Villagonzalo and Kheil Acasili of UV, Nathaly Cabaluna of the University of San Jose-Recoletos and Albert Alcovendras of the Cebu Institute of Technology. (THE FREEMAN)
