1st Btc sports stacking challenge: PCGS, Southcrest in strong start
CEBU, Philippines - The Philippine Christian Gospel School (PCGS) and PAREF Southcrest School dominated round one of the 1st BTC Sports Stacking Challenge at Banilad Town Centre last weekend.
Frank Ethan Ong of PCGS ruled the 3-6-3 and cycle stacks clocking 5.84 and 14.43 seconds in the 7-under pre-school division, with schoolmate Giann Aiden Cabigas led in 3-3-3 stack at 5.3 seconds.
In the 10-under class, Jan Therese Revilles of Southcrest recorded the best time for 3-3-3 stack with 3.43 seconds, while James Kyle Ching of PCGS led the pack in 3-6-3 stack at 4.31 seconds with schoolmate Jaira Yu in the cycle stack at 13.09 seconds.
Southcrest stackers Caili Carcel and Lyanna San Pedro tied on top the heap in the 3-3-3 stack for the 13-under group at 3 seconds, but San Pedro further dominated in the 3-6-3 stack at 3.69 seconds, with Kimberly Kwan of PCGS in the cycle stack at 10.65 seconds.
In the high school division, Clayton Lim of the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) bested the rest in the 3-3-3 and cycle stacks at 3.75 and 15.94 seconds, while Maxine Caindec of St. Theresa’s College (STC) topped the 3-6-3 stack with 4.53 seconds.
The first round of the tournament also saw stackers competing from Bethany Christian School, Cebu International School (CIS), Child Development Center of Cebu (CDCC), Colegio dela Inmaculada Concepcion (CIC) and CIC-Mandaue.
The others were from Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC), PAREF Springdale School, Sacred Heart School - Jesuits (SHS-J) and Hijas de Cebu, University of Cebu (UC) and University of San Carlos (USC) North.
Round two resumed yesterday as the 3-month-long tournament continues to receive entries.
Organizers expected 40 pre-registered sports stackers from 12 schools but close to 200 trooped to BTC last Oct. 17 to play, revealed tournament head Francis Benedict Cutiongco.
