CEBU, Philippines - Fresh from a successful stint in the Robinhood Marathon in United Kingdom, Cebu's top running physician Yong Larrazabal remained unbeaten in his class and won the all-doctors division in the 2009 Pink October Run yesterday at The Terraces of Ayala Center Cebu.
Larrazabal crossed the finish line in 44 minutes and 54.33 seconds in the 10-kilometer race aimed to keep the people aware about breast cancer, something that does not only affect women but also men.
Harem Deiparine came in second with the time of 45:37.59 followed by Raymond Bontol in 46:37.59.
In the distaff side, Maureen Watson outsmarted early favorite Emily Estrada with a 58:19.37 clocking. Estrada registered the time of 59:27.83, while Nicole Chua wound up third in 1:07:24.87.
The 10K open category was dominated by usual faces, the Castrol-supported Cebu Striders spearheaded by Elemer Bartolo and Mary Grace de los Santos .
Bartolo ruled the men's division with an impressive time of 32:39.56. His closest pursuerJoel Delposo clocked in 33:23.35, while Revodem Aranas landed third in 33:41.03.
De los Santos, on the other hand, added feathers on her cap with the time of 40:41.56. Mary Hoy Tabal placed second in 41:53.01 followed by Joeyry Lee in 43:26.31.
Joebert Carolino stole part of the show by topping the 5K action in 16:49.83. Eugene Delposo wound up second in 17:20.87, while Felix Lopez squeezed himself to third in 18:23.71.
Aiza Suwaybaguio emerged the best the women's side in 21:20.74. She was trailed by Margie Apostol in 22:25.17, while Girlie Rose Baylon ended up third in 22:27.25. — Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (THE FREEMAN)
