Sanai fighters stamped classes in Summit boxfest

CEBU, Philippines - Sherwin Caday spearheaded Sanai Boxing Club’s reign in August’s final leg of the Summit Natural Drinking Water Amateur Boxing Series at the Gaisano Country Mall Carpark.

Caday stopped Alex Belonguel of Lapu-Lapu City in their 50 kgs. showdown, even as his three other teammates also emerged victorious. Archie Sarmiento pulled off a 2-1 squeaker over Pit-os’ Dominique Casanares in the 23 kgs., Jerry Baoga dominated Cabancalan’s Ferde San Roque in the 43 kgs., while Eford Pesales overpowered Mandaue’s Richard Quilaton in the 42 kgs. category.

Cabancalan, which had been ruling the previous editions of the monthly series sponsored by Summit Drinking Water in partnership with the ALA Boxing Gym, ended up with a 2-2 win-loss record.25 kgs. bet Vicente Seos-E Jr. handed Cabancalan’s first win at the expense of Pit-os’ Ramel Casanares. Later, Brayn Remedio whipped his teammate Roger Dionsion in the 30 kgs. action.

Banilad also hacked out twin victories in the Rosemarie Gaisano, Marilyn Mangubat and Julian Canete-supported event through 30 kgs. Rene Boy Delema and Reycon Lumilis. Delema eked out a 2-1 triumph over Gothong’s Ronaldein Ignacio, while Lumilis outsmarted another Banilad entry Angelu Capta in the 33 kgs. division.

Jicky Gako, on the other hand, delivered the lone victory of Pit-os after he beat Zamboanga’s Jun-Jun Sultan, 2-1.
