CEBU, Philippines – Even if there is another running event taking place at the same time, the green light is on for the MOVE with Awareness, Involvement and Responsibility (A.I.R) Run on July 19 starting at the St.Theresa’s College (STC) grounds.
The organizers of the STC Run co-presented by SMART, Cebu provincial government and Oakley are not bothered with the other activity as it’s just a run among their members and guests so it could not hamper the flow of the race.
The STC Run features two race lengths, the 5K and 3K. There will also be a 300-meter kiddies fun run around the campus, with age brackets ranging from 5-7, 8-10 and 11-12 years old.
The 5K will be divided into three classes, the men and women’s open and the executive, while the 3K will have the STC alumni, students, and 12-under open category.
The deadline for registration is only July 15.
Entry fee is pegged at P200. STC students will only pay P85, while the 3K entries will be assessed with P150. Registration centers include the STAA office at STC, PSC-7 office at the Cebu City Sports Center, Athlete’s Foot in Ayala, Yayoy’s Grill and Casa Ilongga at Robinson’s Place.
The fund-raising event is part of STC’s homecoming activities.
Proceeds of the race will go to different beneficiaries such as the CCMCH medical indigency project, college scholarship and student’s assistance program, livelihood project in dress-making, website and electronic chronicler, and the Happy Child Literacy program.
For Noy Jopson, one of the race officials, the STC Run is also a good venue for neophytes to hone up their skills.
“For those who want to try the sport of running, this is the best time to try. With only 5K to run, it’s easy and achievable,” said Jopson. — Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (THE FREEMAN)
