CEBU, Philippines – First Family Appliance ’87/94 needed an extra five-minute period before getting rid of Chester Enterprises ’82/83, 64-62, in one of the most thrilling encounters of the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association’s 11th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup on Thursday night at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.
Henrich Chua had 14 points, four assists, three rebounds and two steals, while Bronson Peña added 14 markers on top of three rebounds as Class ’87/94 improved its win-loss record to 6-5.
Scoring machine Stephen Tan unloaded 33 points, 10 rebounds and three steals, while Christopher Cokaliong added eight points and 17 rebounds for Class ’82/83, which slipped to 3-9.
In the other game,Ralph Victor Yap fired 27 points, 10 rebounds and two steals to power First ACY Shipping 2006 to a spine-chilling 58-57 victory over GCM Merchandise ’98-B.
Yap was heavily backed up by Nolsie John Cisneros with 15 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals as they bettered their win-loss mark to 2-10.
Jed Lawrence Co dished out 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Leovigildo Yu added 13 points for Class ’98-B. Virgilio Escoton and Robinson Yap each scored a dozen markers for Class ’98-B, which slipped to 5-7.
