First Osky Mabilog swimfest gets underway today at CCSC

CEBU, Philippines - A total of 12 teams from all over Visayas and Mindanao will vie for overall supremacy in the first ever Osky Mabilog Cup National Age-group Swimming Competition starting today at the Cebu City Sports Center.

The two-day tilt is among the highlights of Cebu City’s Charter Day Celebration.

But unlike other sporting activities that have been lined up, the swimming event is dedicated to one of Cebu City’s hard-working officials, the late Oscar “Osky” Mabilog who is best remembered for his drug prevention campaign.

Under the Cebu Office for Substance Abuse Prevention (COSAP) came the Swim Against Drugs program spearheaded by coach Rolando Alvarez and Beatriz Jane “Betchay” Vega.

The age-brackets that will featured are the mixed gender relay for eight years old and below, 10-under, 11-12, 13-14 and 15-above. There will also be a category for the differently-abled athletes. – Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (BANAT NEWS)
