Cebu - The Cebu Blue Marlins jumped two notches higher from their previous finish as they placed second overall in the 2nd Iloilo Dinagyang Swim Age Age-Group Swimfest at the Ilo-ilo Sports Complex in Lapaz, Iloilo City.
CBM collected a total of 3, 860 points behind overall champion Aqua Sports Swim Club of Iloilo with 4, 579.
CBM piled up points from the 29 golds, 33 silvers, and 20 bronzes it hauled. The Cebuano tankers opened their campaign with an 18-16-15 gold-silver-bronze medal tally.
Adding feather on its cap, CBM also had four most bemedalled swimmer awardees in Anthony Linn Navarro, Noel Caneda, Rhys Michael Tapang, and Kristina Angelika Torres.
Navarro of Cebu Eastern College also emerged as the Most Outstanding Athlete in the developmental level after garnering 10 golds and a silver in the boys 9-10 class.
University of Cebu ’s Caneda was the best in the boys 15-17 class after posting four golds and a silver.
Tapang of Asian Learning Center and Kristina Angelika Torres reigned supreme in the six-under category with three golds and a silver.
The rest of the Cebuano mefallists in the finale of the two-day event were Lyh Ann Navarro (two golds and four silvers), Michael Ichiro Kong (one gold and five silvers), Trina Caneda (gold), Paula Abigail Vega (two silvers), Romylin Ignacio (silver), Aimee Sanchez (silver), Michael David Vega (silver and bronze), Jerose Rosada (bronze) and Cristine Indaya (bronze). – Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (THE FREEMAN)
