CEBU - After scoring a twinkill in Langkawi, Cebu's tennis princess Sally Mae Siso kept her sizzling run as she barged into the semifinal round of the Perlis International Age-Group Competition at the Perlis Sports Complex in Kanger Perlis, Malaysia.
Siso of the University of San Carlos-South gained entry to the penultimate round after winning her first two assignments.
Siso, whose trip in the four-leg Malaysia junior tennis circuit is supported by Dunlop and sports patron Jonathan "Atan" L. Guardo, clobbered Kuala Lumpur’s Archnaah Rajan, 6-1, 6-0 before coming up with a 6-0, 6-0 whitewash of Nur Alialyana Azman, 6-0, 6-0.
In the doubles event, Siso again teamed up with South African Amore de Villieres. Just like their sterling performance in Langkawi, they got off to a flying start with a 9-1 crushing of Tiara Hereena and Macie Low.
Siso is the lone Cebu entry in the Philippine contingent, but it did not matter at all as even players from other countries are there to cheer for her everytime she plays.
And even before she could finish the remaining two legs of the series, The Freeman learned that Siso had already received an offer to study and play in South Africa. – Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (THE FREEMAN)
