3 Cebuano swimmers qualify for POF National Finals

Three Cebuano swimmers qualified for the Philippine Olympic Festival (POF) National Finals in Misamis Oriental on October 23 to 26.

They are Michael Ichiro Kong, and the Navarro siblings Anthony Linn and Lyh Ann.

Kong qualified in the boys 9-under class, while Lyh Ann Navarro made it in the distaff side.

The other Navarro qualified for the boys 10-under finals.

The three promising tankers of coach Rolando Alvarez qualified based on the system utilized by the Philippine Amateur Swimming Association (PASA).

Aside from that, Kong and the Navarros along with 10 other Cebuano swimmers also got the IMX awards set by the organizers.

Kong got the plum in the boys’9-under after raking in four golds and a silver. Lyh Ann snatched away the IMX silver in the distaff side after taking away a gold and four silvers, while Anthony Linn got the boys 10-under gold after ruling all five events he competed under the boys 10-under.

The other IMX gold medal awardees from Cebu were Paula Abigail Vega in girls 16, Noel Cañeda in the boys 17, and Merylyn Silva in the girls 13.

The silver awardees were Michael David Vega and Mary Arlette Baller, while the bronze winners were Matheus Ceasar Galo, Danielle Angela Biscocho, Joyce Huguete, Pierre Nino Baguio, Norie Joy Long and Aimee Sanchez.—Caecent No-ot Magsumbol
