P30T at stake in Dosado tennis

A total of P30,000 in cash prizes are at stake in the 3rd Tatay “Dodo” Dosado Memorial Tennis Cup set this Saturday at the newly-renovated Sogod tennis courts located in Brgy. Poblacion.

The two-day competition features two categories: Centennial and Invitational/Open. The top three winners in each division will receive a uniform prize of P5,000, P3,000, and P1,000, respectively.

Tournament director Police Senior Inspector Cecilio Erasmo said the event is staged to commemorate the death anniversary of the late Tatay Dodo Dosado, brother in law of Sogod Mayor Thaddeus “Deo” Durano.

Durano said heading the list of entries is defending champion Cebu Commercial Tennis Club of Baseline. Also set to see action are top racquet-wielders from host Sogod, Danao, Carmen, Bogo, Cogon-Pardo, and newbies Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-7 Tennis Club.

Before the games proper, a simple opening ceremony will be held starting off with the traditional parade of athletes at 8 am. Afterwhich, a holy mass will be celebrated by Bogo parish priest Monsignor Jojo Dosado.

Registration fee is pegged at only P100 per player inclusive of a t-shirt that also serves as the official uniform of the participants.
