Bel Suelto must be a firm believer in the saying that “winners never quit.”
Suelto showed there is truth to this saying when he finally won the Prima Cebu Tenpin Bowling Monthly Open for October.
Prior to this title, Suelto had come home empty-handed in his last nine tries.
Suelto mastered the Gaisano Bowlingplex lanes in Banilad with a high score of 249 pinfalls in the fourth game and followed it up with lines of 229 and 226 in the games five and six, for a total pinfalls of 1,757.
Clarence Tiu had rolled day’s high score of 257 but his 1,722 total pinfalls is only good for second place.
Kim Lao snatched third place with 1,707 pinfalls. By finishing third, Lao showed she could compete with the more favored male bowlers.
Suelto received the P3,000 champion’s purse while Tiu got P2,000 and Lao P1,000, respectively.
Completing the top 10 bowlers for the October were Jomar Jumapao (1,662), Jacklynn Lim (1,632), Germaine Uang (1,612), John Gasataya (1,609), Victor Mok (1,603), Micah Co (1,599) and Ed Aninon.—Caecent No-ot Magsumbol
