SME Academy and San Roque Football Club emerged as champions in the 1st Futsal for Don Bosco Boys Home Youth Development Tournament at the Don Bosco College gym.
SME relied on better conditioning of its players to conquer Don Bosco Boys Home-A 6-5 in the men’s final game while San Roque Football Club went undefeated in six games to win the women’s title.
Team SME qualified for the final without breaking a sweat as San Roque Royale United Football Club could only show up with three players for their semifinal contest.
In the other semifinal match, Don Bosco Boys Home-A showed too much class in trouncing House of Hope 14-2.
The championship game lived up to all the hype with the match tied 5-5 after the 39th minute.
A daring attack by SME’s Gablier, who got past Don Bosco’s defenses, netted him a point and victory for SME.
In the battle for third place, House of Hope won over San Roque Royale United Football Club 7-3 behind the all-around performance of Awero, Genson, Tamara and Sakan.
San Roque Football Club dominated the women’s competition from the start and was the only undefeated team in the tournament.
Don Bosco College finished second with Cebu State College of Science and Technology garnering third place. The points system was used in determining the women’s division champion.
The Cebu City Sports Commission, Don Bosco’s Migs Pepito and Ceniza, DBTC Canteen through Makilan, Ben Venicas, Sun Sweat Sports Tailoring, DBTC Salesian Community and The Freeman supported the tournament.
