Cebuanos face tough challenge against Bacolod bets in Speedo triathlon today

Cebu’s seasoned and upcoming triathletes are expected to face a tough opposition mostly from Bacolod-based enthusiasts in the fourth leg of the Speedo National Age Group Triathlon Series at the Alegre Beach Resort today.

Danao City councilor Oscar “Boying” Rodriguez, Jr. is expecting around 50 entries to join the battle.

Bacolod will be fielding in 15 bets plus some foreign nationals, making the Cebuanos’ way on top a tougher one.

Leading the Cebuanos’ bid to defend its fort is Abet Biagan, a former RP Team mainstay who is seeking redemption after lying low for sometime.

The Triathlon Association of the Philippines (TRAP)-sanctioned event and locally organized by the Danao City Sports Commission will feature one-kilometer swim, 30K bike and 7.5K run.

Aside from the individual action, there will also be a relay competition. — Caecent No-ot Magsumbol
