The trio of Kenneth Toledo, Slade Cañezo and Glenn Lava hope to grab the gold they missed a few months ago when they showcase their wares in the 1st Petron/Smart National Poomsae Championships today at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila.
Toledo, Cañezo and Lava, who will be representing Team Cebu, grabbed a silver medal in the first poomsae competition they joined.
Despite they practiced together for a very short time, the three Cebuanos managed to take home a medal both in the team and in the individual events during the Carlos Palanca Jr. Poomsae Championships.
This time, they aim no less than for the gold when they compete in the seniors black belt team event. The senior class is for black belters aged 18 to 35 years olds.
For the individual event, Toledo, a 4th dan black belt and head master of Kenn Taekwondo Training Center, also hopes to convert the bronze medal he won in the CPJ action to gold when he displays his prowess in the seniors II black belt category.
Canezo and Lava will see action in the individual seniors I black belt category.
Poomsae or forms competition in taekwondo is now getting more attention in RP just like in the other countries.
