MLSDF to hold summer swimming clinic

The M. Lhuillier Sports Development Foundation (MLSDF) in partnership with the Talisay City Sports Commission (TCSC) will spearhead a summer swimming clinic set to start on April 10 at the Rafols Resort in Brgy. Poblacion, Talisay City.

This project was hatched during a formal meeting by MLSDF executive director Eddie B. Ybañez with the Talisay City sports executives led by councilor Rudy Cabigas the other day at Eddie’s Hotel.

Also present during the gathering were sports commission executive director Engr. Jenneth Villagonzalo, Talisay City Swimming and Life Saving Association (TCSALSAI) president Rolando Remolino and vice president Alfie Fernandez.

Ybañez said their main objective in holding this clinic is to further polish the skills of potential swimmers from Talisay and eventually transform them into highly competitive athletes in the pool arena someday.

"Talisay City was once a top producer of promising swimmers in Cebu and we want to relive those old glory days," said Ybañez.

Cabigas is very elated on this recent endeavor of MLSDF as this would certainly be for the betterment of the Talisay swimming community.

"This training camp is definitely a big help to our swimmers and I’m very happy that the MLSDF helped us in initiating this program," said Cabigas.

To be supervised by the TCSALSAI, the MLSDF-Talisay City Summer Swimming Clinic is open to all aspiring swimmers boys and girls aged six up to 15 years old. Training will be held from 7:30 to 9 am, Monday to Saturday.

The primary goals of the month-long clinic are to help the swimmers improve their fundamental skills and to help educate and motivate them to encourage their progress in the sport.

The campers will also be taught on the technical aspects of stroke, training, and the strategies they need to compete at the top level of competitive swimming.

At the end of the training camp, the participants are expected to become faster and more efficient swimmers.
