Siso siblings reach semifinals in Prince 03 netfest

Cebu's top junior netter Niño Siso advanced to the semifinal round of the boys 21-under as other Cebuano bets hurdled their quarterfinal assignments yesterday in the Prince 03 Tennis Cup at the Mactan Island Tennis Club in Lapu-Lapu City.

Siso of the University of San Carlos South Campus clobbered the older Jerber Mamawal, 8-1, to set up a final duel against Larry Antigua.

Siso, the top seed here and No.4 in the PHILTA rankings in the boys 14-under, was not allowed to join his age-group with the event being a non-ranking competition.

This means the top 20 male players in PHILTA and the top 10 in the girls division could not join their age-group, prompting the organizers to add the 21-under class.

Niño's sister, Sallydine, also barged into the semifinal round after disposing off Janice Cañete, 8-1, in the girls 14-under quarterfinal.

The other girls 14-under matches saw Tonette Javaro winning against Maria Dovieven Loreto, 8-2, and Kara Abadia defeating Jennifer Jaca, 8-6.

Baybay, Leyte's Keisha Adelyn Jabinez also made her presence felt by dispatching Irish Jaca, 8-6, while Bianca Sinabre posted an 8-6 beating of Catherine Padilla.

In the boys division, the Cabahug twins Christian Paul and Christan John, on the other hand, were also victorious in the boys 14-under. Incidentally, they scored similar 8-2 wins over Christian Gerra and Paul Adendon, respectively.

Kevin Mamawal made sure not to suffer the same fate like his older brother after pulling off an 8-4 win against John Ralph Roa, while Junnel Espinosa silenced Mark Macahipay, 8-0.

In the boys 12-under, the winners in the quarterfinals include Mark Norman Enriquez over Carl Rietmuller, 8-2, Junnel Abellanoza over Christian Soon, 8-6, and Harvey Sincolan against Ronnie Andrin, 8-6.
