Pacland creator gets featured in Ring Mag

Dong Secuya, the chief architect of the world-famous Pacland website www.mannypacquiao.ph, got a rare chance to be featured in the prestigious Ring Magazine, which is considered as the "Bible of Boxing."

In an article written by RP-based American writer Ted Lerner for the November 2006 issue of Ring Magazine, Secuya shared his insights on the sweeping popularity of Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao.

"Manny Pacquiao is big business," said Secuya in Lerner's feature story. "He's like the golden goose. All the pressure is on his shoulders. From the highest to the lowest person, all are expecting something from him."

In that same report, Secuya believes that one of the major contributing factors behind Pacman's meteoric popularity has been the Internet. More than eight million Filipinos work and live abroad and the Internet has allowed fans everywhere to feel they are part of the ride.

Secuya revealed on an average day, the Pacland website attracts 11,000 visitors.

For his commendable works, Secuya has already received several awards, including the ORLACSAN Memorial Award in this year's Sportswriters Association of Cebu (SAC)-San Miguel Corporation (SMC) All-Cebu Sports Awards last May at the Raja Park Hotel.

Given in memory of the late Orlando C. Sanchez, a legend in the annals of Cebu sportswriting, the ORLACSAN Memorial Award is given to an individual who has contributed to the development of Cebu sports in his own unique and creative way even up to the extent of using his own resources.

Aside from the Pacland website, Secuya also created Philboxing.com which offers a detailed and comprehensive fight records, photos, news articles, and fight schedules of Filipino boxers with access to other web pages.
