Red Ribbon U-16 football semifinals on today

Defending champion Paref Springdale and Don Bosco Technological College (DBTC) rekindle its rivalry when they suit up in the semifinal round of the Red Ribbon Under-16 football tournament today at the San Roque field in Subangdaku, Mandaue City.

An action packed battle is expected from both protagonists in the opening game at 1:00 p.m. as both teams are in a hot pursuit for the title after its explosive showing against respective opponents going into the semifinals.

Springdale, which topped group A, marched to the penultimate match via an easy rout against host team San Roque Football Club, 4-0, while the equally tough DBTC, the top team in group B, slaughtered Blessed John Seminary XXIII, 7-1.

On the other hand, Hiroshi FC entangles with Don Bosco Boys Home in the other semifinal match.

Hiroshi lead group C while Don Bosco Boys Home was the best second team edging San Roque FC and Blessed John via goal difference.

In the race for Best Striker, Bernard Francis Buot of Don Bosco took the lead with seven goals while Springdale's Evan James Mendoza followed suit with four goals.
