Makinano, 5 others share lead in Rose chessfest

Former Palaro champion Anthony Makinano and fiver others crowded the leaderboard after three rounds of action in the Rose Pharmacy-Pyroworks "Kay Sarap Magmahal" Open Chess Tournament at SM City-Cebu.
Makinano subdued Rodrigo Alejandre to nail a perfect 3.0 points, so far, and share the lead with Carlos Moreno III, Edwel Alesna, Joel Fernan, Delfin Yano, and Rey Flores who are also unbeaten after three starts.
Moreno got past Leo Cortes, Alesna defeated Joel Pacuribot, and Fernan dumped Santiago Peque.
Yano and Flores triumphed over Adonis Buenaventura and Erwin Ababat, respectively.
On the other hand, Bonn Tibod, J. Loquez, Antonio Cabibil, G. Tolentino, R. Cabuncal, and H. Diano posted 2.5 points each to keep their respective title hunt in motion.
A total of 88 players are taking part in the event that offers P3,000 to the champion.
