Yuson wins 'Rider of the Year' in Cebu Boardwalk moto-x

- Caecent No-ot Magsumbol -
Shell-Yamaha's Dondon Yuson lived up to all expectations as he won the "Rider of the Year" honors after reigning supreme in the final leg of the 2005 Cebu Boardwalk National Supercross Series at the FF. Cruz Property at the Mandaue City reclamation area yesterday.

Yuson, one of the fastest rising riders in the country today, took advantage of the absence of his teammate, Popeye Rubi, the top contender for the ROY award.

Popeye is now working in Saipan together with another Shell-Yamaha rider, Weng Yapparcon, making Yuson's way up likely easy.

Yuson won the award after garnering a total of 37 points out of his first place finish in the expert open.

Yuson posted a total of 134 points, a 17-point advantage against Rubi.

Irwin Uypitching trailed Yuson in the final leg, while Jovie Saulog, despite the mishap he suffered, wound up third.

It's a triple victory for Yuson actually as he bagged not only the ROY award, but also the expert open and expert 125cc class titles.

In the expert 125, behind Yuson was Saulog, while PowerSports Racing's Jubenile Abellar was third.

In the mini class' 85 cc race, Jon-jon Adlawan, who decided to drop the Guam leg of the FIM Motocross of Asia Series, poured his energy to come up with a convincing in against RJ Con-ui as Joseph del Socorro came out third.

In the 65 cc class, it was Patrick Orbe on top after outsmarting John Flores as Renan Alquisola ended third.

The equally-exciting peewee race saw Jacob Orbe winning the title, while the open enduro title belonged to PSR's Chai Hong Sy.

Andot Rubi of Quickflight raised the banner of the riding Rubis after coming out the fastest among executives division.

Ormoc's Macoy Larrazabal finished second to Rubi, while Aloy Igot wound up third.

Joshua Abellar and his brother Jovanie, also of PSR, came up with 1-3 finish in the intermediate class as Rudy Nadela snatch the second place.

Rex Barbaso and Michael Desbaro also got into the podium after dominating the novice and local enduro, respectively.
