Granny Goose still in search of coach

With only a couple of days left before the start of the 2005 PBL Heroes Cup on October 29, the Cebu-based team Granny Goose Kornets are in a rush looking for a head coach that will work full time until March next year.

Kornets head coach Jun Tan just decided to take a much-needed break to take care of his packaging business and to spend more time with his family because his wife, Armenia, is preparing to leave for New Zealand on May 2006.

The GMC management, which owns the the Kornets, is interested in hiring Tribu Sugbu coach Al Solis, but it is also difficult for Solis to decide because his wife Virgie is in the United States.

Solis, who steered Tribu Sugbu to the South division finals against Ozamiz Cotta in the NBC, is the first option, but if he couldn't decide within a day or two, the GMC management might end up hiring Tonichi Yturri as its coach.

A Cebuano coach is priority, but Yturri could just be there because he is also recommended by coach Tan, who is Yturri's former teammate in La Salle.

If this happens, this will be the second time Yturri will fill up the shoes left by Tan.

Yturri once replaced Tan as coach of the Cebu Gems in the defunct Metropolitan Basketball Association (MBA).
