Six foreign teams to join pre-SEA Games m'bike tourney

A total of six foreign squads already confirmed its participation in the pre-Southeast Asian Games mountainbike competition set September 10-11 at the Ramon Durano Sr. Memorial Sports Complex in Danao City.

This was relayed to The Freeman by CebuSoc vice-chairman and Danao City councilor Oscar "Boying" Rodriguez, Jr.

Those who have confirmed participation are Indonesia, Singapore, Brunei, Vietnam, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Hong Kong and Taiwan, though not part of the upcoming SEA Games, will be joining the event as guest teams to add up spice to the event.

Hometown advantage, however, will not be expected from the RP team except for Nino Surban.

Vietnam SEAG gold medallist Eusebio Quiñones and bronze medallist Marites Bitbit are back in Manila after competing in the 11th Asian Mountainbike Championships in Bali, Indonesia.

The RP downhillers including Joe Barba, Michael Borja, Parabanne Mendoza and Athena Beltran are also training in Manila and not in Danao.

The pre-SEA Games action for mountainbike was suppose to take place last June, but was moved to September to make it a part of Danao City's fiesta celebration.
