Mandaue Council honors 6 top PRC board passers

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — The Mandaue City Council has recognized six Mandauehanons for bringing honor to the city after topping recent licensure examinations administered by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).

During a regular council session, members welcomed the top performers of the September and October 2025 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT) and the October 2025 Electronics Technicians Licensure Examination (ETLE), awarding them plaques of recognition and ?50,000 cash incentives each.

Placing fourth in the LEPT was Marjoe Mejias of Barangay Looc, while Saint Mark Lloyd Cinco of Barangay Banilad and Ellen Rose Sodoso of Barangay Tingub ranked seventh. Erlindo Andrino Jr. of Barangay Looc and Jiolla Mariz Reuyan of Barangay Lower Tabok both placed 10th.

Mejias, Cinco, Sodoso, and Reuyan are graduates of Cebu Normal University, while Andrino Jr. completed his tertiary education at Benedicto College.

“Lahi ra jud nga mag-answer ka while nagreview ug sa actual na gyud nga exam. Lisod i-manage ang time, so kinahanglan gyud mag-think critically during that day,” Mejias said.

She shared that teaching became her calling after her classmates said they understood lessons better when she explained them. Mejias added that she was further encouraged to pursue the course because teacher education programs are tuition-free in state universities and colleges.

Meanwhile, Joseph Neil Ceniza Colo of Barangay Canduman, a graduate of the University of San Carlos, placed third in the October 2025 Electronics Technicians Licensure Examination.

Asked about the secret to his success, Colo recalled a story shared at his review center that motivated him to persevere.

“Naa to’y story nga nakapasar siya sa board exam in a single year bisan katulo o kaupat siya ni-take. Ang iyang secret mao gyud ang pagsalig sa Ginoo nga makatabang sa pagpasar sa board exam,” Colo said.

The cash incentives were granted under City Ordinance No. 16-2023-1818, which provides financial rewards to Mandaue City residents who demonstrate excellence in PRC licensure and Bar examinations. — Lynda Katherine B. Mecaros, UP intern/FPL (FREEMAN)
