Boy Tapang posts P3K bail
CEBU, Philippines — Cebu-based vlogger Ronie Suan, known for his social media name as "Boy Tapang," addressed allegations of physical abuse lodged against him by his live-in partner that resulted in his detention at the Alcoy Municipal Police Station on Tuesday, April 1.
“Yung problema namin napakaliit lang talaga. Problemang mag-partner lang talaga. Nag away kami. Walang bugbug nangyari, wala kayong makita,” said Suan, in an interview with the media yesterday.
After Suan’s arrest, he underwent inquest proceedings and was formally charged with physical abuse under Republic Act 9262, or Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act.
He posted bail at P3,000 for his temporary release.
Police Captain Jerry Magsayo, officer-in-charge of Alcoy Police Station, confirmed the detention of Suan, amid social media discussions claiming that his arrest could be a fake news or a mere April Fools’ prank.
According to the report of the Alcoy police, Suan was arrested in Brgy. Daanlungsod, Alcoy, Cebu, for allegedly physically abusing his 21-year-old live-in partner.
The victim reportedly sought the help of the police last March 31 after suffering multiple beatings, which left her with bruises and contusions.
The victim told the police that she had endured repeated abuses in the past, even when she was pregnant, but she had been too afraid to report it.
Suan was arrested past midnight of April 1.
Suan said that when the police arrived in his house, he did not resist arrest and peacefully went with the police.
So, wala na kaming magawa, batas eh,” Suan said.
Suan added that when his live-in partner told the police that they will go back home, but the case was already filed.
“So, wala kaming nagawa. Kasi batas eh.
Suan admitted, though, that he had prior heated argument with his live-in partner that damaged their household items.
Suan also disputed allegations that the fight is for content only, saying that their fight started when the latter discovered that his partner owned a vape.
Suan added that their fight is just a misunderstanding. - JG (CEBU NEWS)
