In an interview with The Freeman, Cebu City Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Senior Officer 2 Wendell Villanueva said that most fire incidents in the country started mainly because of electrical malfunctions, noting it as the top cause.
“Number one jud nga cause sa sunog kining sa Cebu City, or even sa tibuok Pilipinas, (kay) electrical in nature,” he said in a phone call interview.
“For the past years, ang pinakataas gyud nga cause of fire kay ang electrical overloading, pinched wires, ug dunay mga defective nga mga appliances ug uban pa, ug uban pa nga may labot sa paggamit sa kuryente,” he added.
Villanueva also urged the public to be cautious enough with the electrical matters in their homes, emphasizing the need for inspections.
Dapat ipa-check unta na og licensed electrician,” he said.
Villanueva assured the public that the fire authorities are always ready to respond anytime, highlighting the crucial role of the citizens in fire prevention.
“Rest assured nga ang kabomberohan kay all standby and alert nga anytime na naa moy itawag namo, amoa ra gyud marespondehan,” he said.
