CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu provincial government will reward athletes from the Cebu Province delegation who secure gold medals in the 2025 Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CVIRAA) Meet.

Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia informed Dr. Senen Paulin, Schools Division Superintendent of DepEd Cebu Province, that these incentives aim to motivate the athletes and foster pride in Cebu Province.

Beyond the incentives, the Capitol will cover meals during training and competition days, transportation allowances, toiletries, and even the parade and playing uniforms for the 675-member delegation representing Cebu Province in the event, slated for March 11 to 16 in Bayawan City, Negros Oriental.

The Cebu Province representatives are the recent winners of the provincial meet held in the City of Naga.

The delegation includes athletes, coaches, and chaperones. Additionally, 288 support personnel, such as security, coordinators, and communicators, will accompany the delegates.

Governor Garcia also plans to attend the opening ceremony to show her full support for the province's delegation.

"This support will make a difference in inspiring and encouraging the children. Knowing that Governor Garcia has dedicated time to support and cheer for them will have a lasting impact," Paulin stated, as reported by Sugbo News, the Capitol's news portal.

The CVIRAA is a regional sporting competition that gathers athletes from various provinces in Central Visayas, including the highly-urbanized cities of Mandaue, Lapu-Lapu, and Cebu, to compete in different sports categories such as ball games, swimming, and athletics, among others.

The winners will represent Central Visayas in the Palarong Pambansa. (CEBU NEWS)
