DA, DOLE beef up partnership

CEBU, Philippines — The Department of Agriculture (DA) and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) have strengthened their partnership for the enhancement of their respective programs.

In particular, both national agencies are strengthening the KADIWA ng Pangulo (KNP) program and DOLE’s Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP).

To be able to carry put such goal, DA and DOLE signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to enhance the implementation of the said programs. The MOU signinh was led by Agriculture Secretary Francisco P. Tiu Laurel, Jr. and Labor Secretary Bienvenido E. Laguesma.

“Through this partnership, we aim to create more sustainable livelihoods and improve access to affordable agricultural products. Together, DA and DOLE are committed to uplifting the lives of Filipino farmers, workers, and consumers,” said Sec. Laurel.

As per DA, the MOU highlights both agencies’ shared commitment to foster sustainable development and create economic opportunities for Filipinos.

Key elements of the partnership include providing technical assistance and capacity-building support to beneficiaries, linking accredited suppliers and farmers’ cooperatives to KADIWA Stores to ensure equitable market access, and expanding the reach and impact of both the KNP and DILP programs nationwide.

Currently, DA and DOLE serve as the primary implementing partners of the KNP program, in collaboration with other agencies, including the Department of the Interior and Local Government, Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Presidential Communications Office, and Presidential Management Staff.

“The KADIWA ng Pangulo, one of the flagship programs of the Marcos administration, continues to serve as a beacon of hope for Filipino communities. By forging partnerships like this, we ensure that its benefits reach even the most vulnerable sectors,” Sec. Tiu Laurel added.

This strengthened collaboration underscores the government’s commitment to foster inclusive economic growth and improve livelihood opportunities.

Aside from that, such partnership is also expected to ensure food and nutrition security for all Filipinos.
