CEBU, Philippines — After distributing the October to December financial aid to senior citizens starting Dec. 5, the Cebu City government is handing out the cash assistance for qualified Person with Disabilities (PWDs) starting on Dec.14.

“Ang pag-apod-apod sa mga PWD financial assistance magsugod karong Disyembre 14, 202,4” read the announcement by the City’s Public Information Office.

Like in the past, the quarterly distribution is expected to be done in each of the barangay’s covered courts, with disbursing officers from the City Treasurer’s Office coming to each barangay.

Based on previous distributions, there are around 13 thousand registered PWDs in the city who are entitled to get P1,000 of financial assistance per month from the city government.

For those who have questions and clarifications concerning the financial aid, they are encouraged to call the City’s Department of Social Welfare Services.

Aside from the distribution of PWD financial aid, the city government also announced the conduct of another city-wide clean-up drive also on Dec. 14.

The upcoming activity is the 18th edition and the last one for this year.

Those who are interested to join the clean-up activity are encouraged to register ahead through the Cebu City Environment and Natural Resources Office.

Meanwhile, the City Treasurer’s Office (CTO) also announced that it is open in the coming Saturdays (14, 21, 28) of December as well as on the 30th, which is supposedly a holiday, and on the 31st, to cater to taxpayers wanting to give their quarterly real property tax (RPT) payments.

City Treasurer Mary Vae Reyes said the deadline for the RPT payment is on Dec. 1 and those who does on or before that date gets a 10-percent discount.

She clarified, though, said that the discount would only be given to property owners who are not tax delinquent.

She further said that those who fail to pay on time will get a penalty of two percent per month.

She also said that taxpayers may opt to pay online via www.rpts.cebucity.gov.ph.

For more information about the RPT payment, one can call 411-0100 local. — (FREEMAN)
