Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — Senator Christopher "Bong" Go last Wednesday extended support to scholars in Cebu through the Tulong Dunong Program of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED-TDP), the scholarships supports 342 students from various campuses of Cebu Technological University in Cebu City, Moalboal, Argao, Barili, and Consolacion.

In his message to the scholars, Go, chairman of the Senate Committee on Youth, said the transformative power of education and encouraged the students to strive for excellence.

“Education is the cornerstone of our nation's progress. I stand firmly behind the growth and progress of our youth, as they are instrumental in shaping our future leaders," he said.

During the events held at Cebu Technological University's Main Campus and Moalboal, Go’s Malasakit Team provided the scholars with snacks, shirts, vitamins, fans, as well as basketballs and volleyballs.

Go has advanced several legislation to enhance access to education and support the well-being of Filipino students, including the RA 11984, or the “No Permit, No Exam Prohibition Act", which prohibits educational institutions from denying students the right to take exams due to unpaid fees; and RA 12006 or the “Free College Entrance Examinations Act”, waiving entrance exam fees at private higher educational institutions for qualified top students, among others. — (FREEMAN)
