Army trooper shot dead by colleague
BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — An Army soldier died after he was allegedly shot by his colleague in Sipalay, Negros Occidental on Monday night.
Cpl. Arnold Sumaribus of Iloilo City died while being treated at the Sipalay Infirmary.
The suspect, identified as S/Sgt. Charlemagne Nabejet of Lanao del Norte, was disarmed by his commanding officer and turned over to the Sipalay City police for proper disposition.
The soldiers, both members of the Army’s 15th Infantry Battalion, reportedly figured in a spat during a birthday celebration of a fellow trooper.
Investigation showed the suspect shot the victim, hitting him in the left arm. The bullet reportedly penetrated the victim’s chest.
