Persons of interest known in shooting of father, son

Romeo Marantal - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines —  The Carcar City Police Station are tracking down two “persons of interest” in connection with the shooting of a father and son at Sitio Bokyol, Barangay Poblacion 3 last Thursday.

Victims Junie and Randel Barcellino were shot dead by the still unidentified suspects while they were riding a motorcycle and were on their way back home to Aloguinsan, Cebu.

Police Lt. Col. Mark Gifter Sucalit, Carcar City Police Station chief, said that they already got some information about the incident and are looking at two persons of interest that could help them solve the case.

Sucalit said that the two angles they were earlier looking at about Junie’s personal grudge and previous involvement in illegal drugs had matched the information they recently got.

“Actually, we are just waiting for pieces of evidence.  Naa lang tay gisubay as soon naa tay makuha karon, naa naman tay effort karon ongoing.  Dili madugay masulbad ni ang maong kaso,” said Sucalit.

Junie’s son, Randel, does not have any record with the police and the police said that he could have been a collateral damage since he was the one driving the motorcycle at that time.

The police also learned that the victims already received threats to their lives prior to the shooting.

The police are giving limited information for now, so that their investigation would not get compromised.

“We are hoping mura siguro one day and a half...we are hoping makaya pa nato og follow.  Naa atong mga operatiba on the ground, katong mga information nato gisubay lang nato,” said Sucalit. (CEBU NEWS)
