New dialysis centers soon in Carcar, Danao hospitals

Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — A new dialysis center, each in the cities of Carcar and Danao Provincial Hospitals, are expected to be operational by March this year.

This was the announcement made by Medtronix Medical Supplies and Equipment during their presentation before the Economic Enterprise Council, chaired by Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, at the Capitol recently.

According to Sugbo News, the official news portal of the Cebu Provincial Government, the construction of the two dialysis centers is now ongoing and is expected to be completed by March this year.

To recall, the provincial government had already opened a dialysis center at the Balamban Provincial Hospital, with ten dialysis units.

It said that Medtronix had assured that both centers are expected to accommodate kidney failure patients of the province and once completed, the delivery, installation, and testing of the hemodialysis equipment will then follow.

It can be recalled that in December of last year, the governor together with Medtronix signed a memorandum of agreement for the installation and maintenance of 30 regular hemodialysis machines which would be divided evenly between the Carcar and Danao hospitals.

“Gov. Gwen has invested further into upgrading the province’s healthcare infrastructure to improve the medical services for the Cebuanos by putting up dialysis centers in southern and northern areas,” it said.

Under the agreement, Medtronix will equip these two dialysis centers with needed support systems, like a direct feed reverse osmosis machine, water pre-treatment system, and 15 recliner chairs, among others.

Medtronix will also provide two technicians for each of the dialysis centers as well as two back-up dialysis units.

Medtronix is engaged in the operation of hemodialysis centers in the country, including one at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City of which it has been its partner for the past 20 years. (FREEMAN)
