OPASCOR ventures on truck distributorship

CEBU, Philippines — The trucking industry in Cebu can now have a reliable and dependable partner for their trucking needs.

Cebu's exclusive cargo handling service provider, the Oriental Port and Allied Services Corp. (OPASCOR), has entered into a new business which is exclusive truck distributorship.

OPASCOR general manager, Atty. Florimae Velasco, speaking during the launching of the Oriental Truck Distribution and Automotive Services, Inc.’s showroom, said their three CAMC products that are their initial offering to the market would be big help to the trucking industry in Cebu as it is available through financing with a lesser interest rates.

CAMC, the emerging dependable truck brand from China, is where Oriental Truck got an exclusive distributorship in Cebu and the rest of the Visayas and Mindanao.

Oriental Truck is a wholly-owned subsidiary of OPASCOR, a worker’s enterprise engaged in the service of cargo handling operations in the Cebu International Port.

Oriental Truck was incorporated on August 13, 2020 with the primary purpose of engaging in the business of importation, distribution, trading, service maintenance and other related activities of any item or merchandise, relative to heavy trucks, equipment and accessories, for local distribution on a wholesale or retail basis.

The company envisions to be the leading supplier of heavy trucks, equipment and accessories by means of durable products and excellent customer service in the Visayas and Mindanao regions.  Oriental Truck is initially offering to the public three types of CAMC products: prime movers, dump trucks and garbage trucks. Velasco said that all units are compliant with Euro 5 emission standards.

OPASCOR chairman and chief executive officer, Atty. Tomas Riveral, said that they are optimistic that their products will be patronized by their intended target market considering that as of the other day, they already sold 20 units.

Joining the office and showroom launching of Oriental Truck were Cebu Truckers Association, Inc. president Gabriel Cruz, Visayas United Truckers Association, Inc. founder and CEO of Alin Group of Companies, Israel Alin, among others. — GMR (FREEMAN)
