Cebu grads top LET

CEBU, Philippines —  Nine graduates from Cebu colleges and universities were among the Top 10 passers of the 2022 Licensure Examination for Teachers.

Of the nine, five belong to the elementary level and four to the secondary level.

Among the topnotchers in the elementary level are Jekyll Almaden (4th, Cebu Normal University), Lilian See Baylon (7th, Cebu Technological University-Main), Jana Belle Rojas (7th, University of San Carlos), Rona Pamela Cotejo (9th, Cebu Roosevelt Memorial College) and Christianie Kate del Rosario (10th, Cebu Institute of Technology-University).

Secondary level topnotchers from Cebu include Inah Angelique Lauron (4th, Cebu Technological University), Emegdio Cejano lll (6th, Cebu Normal University), Sheena Suico (7th, University of the Philippines Cebu), and Edgardo Soqueño Jr. (8th, Cebu Normal University).

This year, the first placers in elementary and secondary level are Jenechielle Lopy of Saint Michael’s College of Laguna and Lanvin Sean De Los Santos of National teacher’s College, respectively.

Meanwhile, Cebu Normal University also emerged as the top performing school in the secondary level after 63 of its 71 examinees passed the exam, which translates to a passing percentage of 88.73%, the highest among schools with 50 or more examinees fielded.

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) and the Board for Professional Teachers (BPT) announced that 8,737 elementary teachers out of 15,696 examinees (55.66%) and 12,074 secondary teachers out of 22,454 examinees (53.77%) successfully passed the exam.

The test was given last January 30, 2022 in 29 testing centers all over the Philippines.

Also, it was announced that out of the 8,737 elementary teacher passers, 2,678 are first timers and 6,059 are repeaters. For the secondary teachers, 4,652 passers are first timers and 7,422 are repeaters. - John M. Destacamento
