PUJ terminal for north-bound passengers assigned at APM

Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - A new drop-off point and pick-up point for north-bound public utility jeepneys and passengers was put up at the APM Mall in Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City.

Romeo Armamento, vice president of the National Confederation of Transportworkers Union-Central Visayas, said the dry run already started last week. Unfortunately, however, he said there is now a sort of a “hide and seek” situation.

“Ang problema kay moingon ang mga pasahero nga di sila moadto sa APM kay wala’y jeep. Unya ang mga jeepney drivers moingon sad nga di sila moadto sa APM kay walay pasahero,” said Armamento.

Armamento said there is really a need for enforcement that North-bound passengers should proceed to APM Mall and not just along the streets.

“Kinahanglan pa gyud og massive information dessimination para ang mga pasahero adto gyud sila mag-atang og jeep sa APM Mall,” Armamento said.

There are around 500 jeepneys travelling in the North comprising the towns of Consolacion, Compostela, Liloan, Carmen and the cities of Lapu-Lapu and Danao, which all can use the APM mall terminal without any fee.

Armamento earlier said  they have been looking for a terminal so that drivers will not just pick up passengers anywhere and avoid paying penalties for traffic violations. (FREEMAN)
