Disco brawl hurts four Samboan cops
CEBU, Philippines - At least four policemen, including the deputy chief of Samboan Police Station, were injured when they tried to pacify a brawl during a disco in Poblacion, Samboan yesterday midnight.
SPO2 Neil Seno, deputy chief of police, suffered contusion in his face while PO1 Marphy Tolentin, PO1 Romanito Dinapo, and PO1 Arnold Rusiana sustained bruises to their body.
The policemen responded to a call from concerned citizen about a commotion inside the covered court where a disco was held for the town fiesta. Seno, the deputy chief of police, led his men to verify the report.
The policemen found a group of people fighting inside the covered court, prompting the officers to intervene so as not to disturb the other partygoers. But despite the presence of the police, a rumble ensued.
PO2 Ressel Jabagat, desk officer of Samboan Police Station, three people were arrested after the rumble.
The suspects were identified as Leonell Pancho, 26, who suffered stab wounds and bruises in his body, Jestoni Pancho, 25, and Remor Rocaborte, 23, all from Barangay Jumangpas, Samboan.
“Naay nidagan nga concerned citizen naay dinunggabay, pag-adto didto nag-rumble na…ang uban sigig continue og sayaw. Ang tulo wala mi tahora gitubag mi wala kuno mi pulos mga polis,” Jabagat said.
According to Jabagat, after the rumble the police brought the three suspects to the rural health unit because of the injuries they sustained. On their way to the clinic, Pancho saw Ulyses Bello, 25, whom he suspected to be among those whom he had a fight with.
Pancho, despite his stab wounds, rushed to Bello and started assaulting the latter. His brother Jestoni and Rocaborte also joined in beating Bello despite the warning from the police.
“Gibadlong sila, wa g’yud mopatoo nigrabi na hinoon og ataki hangtod gipangtukmod ang mga polis. Kaning si Jestoni Pancho gisukmag diritso ang polis naigo among deputy chief sa iyang too’ng nawong ubos gamay sa mata,” he added.
Aside from that, the suspects were allegedly uttering derogatory remarks to the police in front of many people that prompted the police to arrest them.

The suspects will face charges for direct assault and resistance and disobedience to an agent of a person in authority. (FREEMAN)
