Ex-radtech sued for sniffing shabu

CEBU, Philippines - Operatives of the Cebu City Intelligence Branch have filed criminal complaints before the Office of the Cebu City Prosecutor against a former radiology technician who was allegedly caught in the act of sniffing shabu inside his house.

Wendell Caballero, 42, is now facing charges for violation of Sections 11 and 12 of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, said Police Officer 2 Martini Lunday of the CIB.

Lunday said Caballero opted not to invoke his right to undergo preliminary investigation during the inquest proceedings before Assistant Cebu City Prosecutor Alex Gabud yesterday.

Lunday said Caballero’s case may be docketed before the Regional Trial Court within this week.

Caballero was reportedly caught in a shabu sniffing session with other men in his house in Sitio Poblacion, Barangay Pardo, Cebu City Sunday morning.

The police earlier said they were informed by a concerned citizen about a group of men sniffing shabu in the area.

CIB operatives then responded to the area, however, those who were allegedly having “shabu session” noticed the presence of the police and escaped.

It was only Caballero who was cornered by the policemen. Caballero is a former radiology technician at the Camotes District Hospital where his wife also reportedly works as a doctor.

He is currently detained at the Cebu City Police Office detention cell. — (FREEMAN)
