“Beautiful thief” no-show for arraignment in court
CEBU, Philippines- The girl known as the “beautiful shoplifter” in Cebu City did not show up in court yesterday for the arraignment of her case.
The minor is facing a criminal case for other deceits before the Municipal Trial Court in Cities after running away from a salon without paying her P2,000 bill last year.
MTCC Branch 4 Judge Jenelyn Forrosuelo was supposed to hold the arraignment yesterday after the minor failed to submit her counter-affidavit.
The order was sent through registered mail at the address in Southern Leyte, which the accused listed as her permanent resident.
Lawyer Rene Abcede, minor’s legal counsel, said he did not know whether his client received the court order. Abcede said the minor did not also answer his call.
Abcede added that he was not also aware of the pending case at the MTCC because he was focusing on the estafa case which was already dismissed.
“Walay return if nadawat ba ang order…Duha na walay return,” Abcede said, adding that he might ask for a reinvestigation of the case.
“Akong gitawagan sa iyang numbers but dili ma contact,” he added.
According to Abcede, the minor is no longer under the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
The minor was accused of skipping payment of P2,000 to a Nails and Cocktails Salon owned by Christy Sigvathesen in Cebu City, for her pedicure, manicure, eye-lash extension and hair color, last year.
The court moved the arraignment to November 9. (FREEMAN)
