Son’s arrest drives father to kill self
CEBU, Philippines- A father allegedly suffering from depression following his son’s arrest for possession of illegal drugs hanged himself in Sitio Santo Niño, Barangay Inayawan, Cebu City yesterday morning.
Zosimo Mandawe, 58, was found dead by his wife, Fortunata, hanging from the beam on the second floor of their house.
Police Officer 1 Reoful Adalim, homicide investigator, said that the wife went upstairs at 7 a.m. to change her dress when she found her husband.
A hammock was used to tie around his neck while the other end was tied to the beam.
Responding members of the Cebu City Emergency Medical Services found no vital signs on Mandawe.
The wife told the investigator that her husband was depressed because their son, Joel, was arrested last Friday for possession of illegal drugs. (FREEMAN)
